Abstract: | Nowadays, dietary supplements represent an important part of the products that people use in order to support daily health. Figures show a steady increase in the consumption of dietary supplements at people of all ages, in many cases associated with chronic medicinal treatment. In this review we have presented an insight into dietary supplements regulations in Europe, Romania and United Stated of America, quality control tests and methods (compendial and non compendial) used to determine the characteristics of some pharmaceutical oral forms (capsules, soft gelatin capsules, tablets), and performance test, in vitro release profiles study. Also, we presented an overview on Coenzyme Q10, current status and uses, as well as different formulation attempts to improve the release profile data of this bio-active principle. |
